An Attitude of Gratitude

Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity:it must be produced discharged and used up in order to exist it at all will -William Faulker

Gratitude is the most powerful virtue necessary to a happy life; it releases the soul of stress and gives stability to life. A grateful heart produces a fruitful well being. Men fail to embrace the greater good because ingratitude stagnates their progress. Throughout history, those that are grateful for the blessings they receive open a path to greater blessings.Gratitude is that which mirrors an inner sense of gratefulness and ignites the fire of appreciation. An act of gratitude paves the way for the expense of progression and greater unfoldment.

Gratitude is both the engine of progress and the fuel that makes it run. Eliminate it from your life and you become an ordinary individual. David, an enthusiast of the goodness of God, wrote much on the subject of gratitude. In Psalm 103:2- 5, “Praise the LORD,  O my soul, and forget not all His benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with live and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (NIV)
A true appreciation of God’s goodness always magnifies such goodness. How often do we eat the fruit and forget the one who created the tree? Those who have nothing to be thankful for become creatures of ingratitude. When a person becomes thankful, the seasons of life are aggravated and the fruits of success are aborted.

One of the greatest challenges of human existence is the forgetfulness on his part to appreciate the giver above the gift Henry Ward Beecher said," The unthankingful heart.........discovers no mercies but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and as the magnet finds the iron,so it will in every hour some heavenly blessings!

Be grateful for what you have and even more so, be grateful for the source of such good. Find something to be grateful for on a daily basis. It may be the gift of life or the gift of health. Appreciate God for friends and family. Instead of focusing on the things that are wrong, why not give thanks for the things that are going well? Remember the seed of elevation is embedded in gratitude.

An attitude of gratitude activates the cycle of supernatural happenings in your life. When I was young there was a song we used to sing which says, “Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings see what God has done. Count your blessings name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.” Counting your blessings increases your expectation for greater blessings.

Those who complain are often victimized by their conditions; but those who give thanks become victors in their situations. God has great things for you; don’t curse where you are or what you are facing. Begin to give thanks and watch things turn around in an astounding way. You have many things to be grateful for, discover them and you will discover the well of overflowing blessings. Count those blessings and they will keep multiplying in your life.
